Review: Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred, Level 3
May 13, 2009
Though I don’t discuss my workout regimen a ton here, offline I’ve been Shredding for over three weeks (in addition to my cardio, plus P90X) and decided to give Level 3 a shot Monday night.
However, I made the mistake of trying it AFTER doing P90X Plyometrics … oops.
Why “oops?” you ask? Well, unbeknownst to me, Level 3 incorporates a ton of plyometrics … the same moves I’d just done in P90X minutes before. So I was basically over-doing it since I was feeling good and literally went from one DVD to the next … which meant I didn’t push myself as hard as I could have.
Even so, I have to say, it was my least-favorite of the three levels.
It’s definitely harder, so I know it’s a good workout — and I can do some real push-ups now (she does walking push-ups in this level) — but to be honest, I didn’t like it as much, or find it as much fun as Levels 1 and 2.
Also, she uses body weight for resistance in the strength portions, which I was “eh” about.
I might have just been too exhausted to appreciate it, so I’ll give it a couple more shots, but I think I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing: an ample mix of 1 & 2, or just 2, or just 3. Who knows, maybe it’ll grow on me?
Either way, this has been an awesome workout DVD and I am not bored by it at all. Thanks, Jillian. I never thought I’d be able to do real push-ups
And though I can’t keep up like “my girl Natalie” (as she says) I can pump out as many as I can, and then “follow Anita.”
How about you? If you’re a Shred fan, what’s your favorite level?

Level 3 is actually my favorite of the 3 but I think it is just because it gets me sweating so much in such a short time. At first I hated all the jumping but I don’t mind it at all anymore.

I have not tried Level 3 yet, but I am liking the first two levels. I do both 1 and 2 together, even though I probably will never keep up with “my girl Natalie.” Some of the strength moves on level 2 still just kill me even though I am only using 3 pound weights.
